Hi!
Sorry I don't have any solution...but I surfed through the forum..and this kind of problem seems to happen pretty often...I also have this kind of weird problem...

In previous post...no one came with a solution neither a "I know what the problem is"...
I must say that I am pretty bored with this 360!

Great News. I fixed my video. Beleive it or not, it actually came from M$. After several e-mails to M$, I get this procedure:

To reset the display settings of the Xbox 360 console to the default settings, remove any discs from the disc tray. Turn the console off and turn it back on. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time. The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings, and then automatically restarts the console. Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn the console on by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left quadrant light illuminated.

For further assistance, please don't hesitate to write back or call Xbox Phone Support at 1-800-4MYXBOX or 1-800-469-9269 (United States and Canada); or 425-635-7180 (International/direct dial to the US) at your earliest convenience. We are open everyday 9am-1am EST/6am-10pm PST.

After several attempts, It actually worked. Once the box reset, I had my video. I guess I should say thanks M$, and thanks to all you folks that read my post. I hope this can help someone else.

well i actually hae a problem just like this but only think with my problem i would get like scrables on the screen or lines running across it
wht i did to fix mine was did the heatgun fix the problem is soposed 2 be coming form the northbridge and the GPU so i concentrated more there
PLZ read aklot abou heatguning before doing it
i also did the tut my RBJ for replacement of xclamps

I have the same problem. I got the 3rlod before I tried lawdawgs x clamp fix. It worked for 3 weeks, now I get the no video problem.

I tried what everyone else except Y button thing, new cable, adjust the screws, and the heatgun fix.

I will tried them in that order tonight.

I will post results.

Any solutions/ideas to this problem yet? I have the same problem and its driving me crazy. It seems that this happens more often than we think; specially after doing any of the overheating fixes to get rid of the 3rlod.

I have/had the same problem. I was going to try the heat gun trick but I decided to try lawdawgs x clamp method. After applying the Artic Silver 5, putting on the washers and letting it overheat, I turned on the 360 and I had video again. I also went ahead and cut out the metal casing behind the fans and today I'm going to install the Talismoon fans and install an air flow divider.

I can't say that this is the fix but I was surprised that after trying lawdawgs method the video started to display again. For those who haven't tried it I would recommend giving it a shot. I'll be running my 360 tonight to see if it holds up but the fact that the video came back is promising (at least I hope).

I just got the same problem again on an other xbox !! thats 2 times in a week on 2 different Xboxes right after performing the X clamp fix. This time I lost the quality of the picture (i.e. it went down to like 256 colors) for a while and then it just went to no signal.

My theory is that while the X-clamp fix does fix the 3drol, the overheating damages the GPU or something.

The good news is that I did the heatgun on one of my Xbox (still not putting back the x clamps) and I got video again. Interesting (apparently the GPU is not fried after all as many suggested). I dont know how much it will last in fact Im not hoping for much, but I will keep you posted.

My Situation:

I got 3ROL, did Lawdawg clamp fix, worked for 3 weeks, then no video but have sound, check and recheck everything (i think), sent it to a guy in CT (from ebay), he said video encoder is fried, nothing can be done.

After reading this thread and looking over the X-clamp fix, I was looking and thinking of a better way to fix my problem. So the 1st thing I did was using my hand I pushed down on the 360 over the big heat sink. I quickly learned that if I pushed down just right I could get the video working correctly. If I pushed down to hard I would then get 2 red lights. So that a quick test to see if this will work for you. I opened my 360 up to do the "eraser trick" and

the ram is on the other side of the 360 so I just cut a small pece to go on the X-Clamp of the one with the big and tall heat sink. I then put back in the 4 Screw for that heat sink and plugged in the 360 and I had video. The video would like jump from 32bit to like 16bit or something so i pushed down on the heatsink again just a little and the video was fine again so I turned the 360 and back on and the same happened. So I left it on for like 2-3 mins and then pushed down on it just a little again and the video was fine again. after that i turned off the 360 again and back on and every since then to video has not gone to 16bit again.

Long story short: put eraser on x-clamp on the big heat sink(is that the gpu or cpu?)

Bump.. I have a 360 here with this problem. No video, but it has sound. Xclamp removal didn't do anything to help it and neither did that video reset code.

Just as a bump, this worked for me after fixing a RROD box. Make sure you are connected to the TV and the TV is on the right input when you do this. I tried it a few times and it finally worked when I did that.

i know its a old thread but reading thru none of you guys got the problem fixed.

ive repaired many of this kind of fault

i use an infra-red reworkign station and rework the whole board.

all my 360's i fix spring back to life after

i also do away with the x-clamps and use nuts n bolts to keep the heat sinks nice n tight.
