I've Got A Problem With Vga And Xbox1 Games

I think its because the game has to run in 50Hz which for soem reason the VGA won't seem to support, have you tried any other xbox1 games?

Some Xbox 1 games simply wont run over VGA... there is nothing you can do about it unfortunately.

Bit late, but you sometimes get the same with halo 2. And this issue mainly occurs when the game needs to apply updates. -which requires that it reverts to the old XBOX interface-which only runs in 50 hz. I was fine just plugging my 360 into a sdtv, putting the update on, then reverting back to vga when its done. Works for Halo 2.

This is a backward compatability problem with certain PAL games. It talks about what games are effected by this on the Xbox Backward Compatability page.

This is a problem for DVD movies as well when running via vga lead in PAL land. VGA spec insists that 60hz is a minimum so any PAL optimised games that refuse to run above 50hz (because they would in effect be speeded up) are unable to be used. As well as this any PAL DVD's or HD-DVD's that are played are forced to 60hz instead of the normal 50hz that is available if you connect via component. If you connect via component and playback each frame once instead of repeating 1-in-5 as vga does then you cannot upscale dvd's as component does not allow this. Just to be an extra PITA if you want 1080i (say for displays that won;t accept 1080p) you must connect via component but if you want to watch an upscaled DVD you must connect via VGA. Much lead swapping and hassles abound.

I don't want to be a moaning minnie highlighting problems but not solutions so here is the fix MS.

1) Enable 50 hz vga for us PAL users. We can then play all xbox 1 games and have our DVD's upscaled AND played back at the correct frame rate! At the moment we have the shit option of 4% speed-up of the transfer from 24p to 25p (50hz) and then we get telecine pulldown added to convert this 50hz to 60hz ie. Frames

A B C D E
                           become
A B C D E E
where one frame in 5 is repeated twice to make 25p playback at 60hz. This naturally includes mucho motion judder and is highly undesirable.

2) For Christ's sake give us 1080i via VGA so those who's displays cannot handle 1080p but would benefit from 1080i can use the vga connection for this. At the moment want to watch an upscaled DVD at say 720p? Use VGA. Want to watch a HD-DVD at 1080i? Gotta switch to component. Want to watch another DVD? Get off ass and fuck about behind the xbox to get the VGA lead back in. Not very friendly or acceptable.

To recap 50hz and 1080i via vga gives PAL land and 1080i users the best of both worlds or in this case an acceptable solution that does not compromise quality or user friendliness.
