Okay, as per Sinister's request, the SCART diagram is updated with ALL grounds, and is a bit more organized.  Any further questions, let me know.

nice pinout! im going to buy a 360 this summer, along with a 22 inch widescreen panel. im planning on getting the VGA pack, but i need to know if i can add a jack for Digital Coaxial out to it easily. i dont have an optical jack for my home theater system, so digital coaxial is my only option(i dropped 200 bucks on this 1000 watt monster and i dont plan to change). I tried to mod a standard AV pack for my xbox1, but a lot of cables cracked off after removing the rubber and aluminum housing on the connector. im hoping this mod will be pretty solid after doing. thanks!

For coaxial audio, just follow the guide.  It uses the EXACT same pinouts that optical does, but it doesn't require any power.  No need to replace your current setup smile.gif.

thanks jared, but i forgot to mention that i dont want to open my 360 up. im not one for voiding warranties on 400 dollar products the moment i get them. can this be done to the VGA/Component/Whatever cable itself without seriously trashing it??

yes - either get a Toslink(optical) to coax convertor - or hack the AV connector - all 3 wires are present in the connector as it contains a toslink socket - you just need to identify the two from the diagrams above and solder them to a phono socket (ready for the coax).

converter, eh? lemme google that...

27 bucks? hell no! a phono jack costs me 25 cents, and wire comes from anywhere, so i think i'll have to crack the connector open. but can that be done without making the cable fragile? when i did this to my xbox1's AV cable, i couldnt put the aluminum housing back onto the xbox AV connector, so some cables would crack off from it whenever i moved the cable. so far, i lost both left and right channel cables and 1 ground wire, but i since im using digital, it doesnt matter. when i mod things, i like to have the finished product solid, meaning it can be used, moved, plugged up/unplugged often, without considering the amount of force used. does the 360 connector housing have screws by any chance? thanks again!

I haven't opened one, but judging by the rest of the 360's accessories and console itself it'll have those clips. If you dont want to damage your cable you could always buy a cheap non HD cable (from a core console) on eBay and crack that open, it'll still have all the pins on it to solder to.

I believe the image represents a switch

to get activate the outputs in the image the switch must be "on" (connecting the two point's it's attached to)...

basically if you're going to use just component or just scart you can hardwire the switch... if you're going to have multiple outputs you can put actual switches in so you can switch from one output type to another.

when you buy cables these are all hardwired in (with the exception of the component/composite hybrid that comes with the premium) it's how the console knows which cable it is connected to.  smile.gif

100% correct.

Also, twisted, if you could please do me a favor and edit the first post, removing the wording before the picture, I would appreciate it.  The digital audio has been added to the first image already, and we've come to the conclusion that there really is no 'true' S-Video output.  Once that's done, you can also remove the request from this post smile.gif

Forgive the newbie question, is there a way to trick the console into thinking vga is connected while component is to get around the 1080i issue on HDDVD

The switch would fool the system into thinking there is a monitor attached, though you get RGB output and not Y/Pr/Pb, which is the HD component standard.

There may be a way to convert RGB into Y/Pr/Pb, though you'd have to add a few more complex components.

Edit: Found a link for you if you're electronics savvy.  It's a simple circuit to convert RGBHV (VGA) to Y/Pr/Pb (HD Component).
