Do a bit of searching in the forums, there is information on possible fixes for this.

If you saw the red lights I would assume that it is either

1) A bad solder joint where your video output socket is connected to the board (need to try and reflow the solder with a heat gun)

2) An overheating GPU. You can remove the heatsink and put in new heat transfer compound (Arctic Silver 5 is supposed to be good) and make sure that the heatsink is making good contact to the top of the chip. Also don't use too much compound or it will act as an insulator.

It is more likely to be the overheating if its just tears as I would think that the bad solder joint would result in loss of video completely, but I may be wrong.
