It's not there fault they are just following copy protection laws.

Almost all upscaling dvd players will not allow a pressed disk to be upconverted via component, if you have a player that does this consider yourself lucky.

Here's my question, that I thought I should post under this topic. If I have a 720p TV, which I do, and I buy the VGA cable, will my Xbox 360 upscale the DVD movies to 720p?

I find out who decided that only VGA was a good idea I will cut their fu**in throat

this is bull sh*t its not like you couldnt use VGA the same way as component to copy something, what about a VGA to Component cable wouldnt this work?

also that is bull sh*t since there is no problem with HD DVD and component why DVD it is a lesser quality

so if I want to copy a DVD then I have a better chance at the HD DVD version since the DRM was reciently broken and it is way better quality than a upconverted DVD all this is going to do is make a pirate out of me because I want to upscale my dvd's but cant so I will just rent the HD DVD version and rip it

why would I try to capture the upconverted stream from a Standard DVD when I can copy the HD DVD version?

last thing      you said a presed DVD what about a copy with no CSS will it upconvert that    or maybe my own home movies on dvd

Anyone know of a VGA cable that I can also use my optical cable for sound?  The M$ one only had red and white with the VGA, are there other options out there?

connect the audio digital output found on the AV connector of Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable with your system using an optical cable

The M$ one has a optical digital audio out - its where the cable plugs into the box...and it also has the stereo cables.
