Green Picture On Projector.
« on: January 04, 2007, 02:11:00 AM »

Can't say I really know the reason of this, apart from if any of the pins in the connector is bent and touching the shield, thus grounding a specific color signal.

I once had a cable where one of the pins transferring color info was just that, and it resulted in my computer screen looking really weird and being all red/pink-ish. But if you tried the same cable to another display and it works fine I dunno really.

Is the projector new or have it worked fine before ? What happends if you connect the 360 to an ordinary TV set, all colors ok then ?

Also, I suggest you try conecting your 360 to the projector with a HD component cable (like the one you get in core packages) and see if the image still looks weird or not.

The Projector is about 2 years old Infocus PL70 " http://www.cadmandat...mg2temp_000.jpg ".
Worked fine without any problems until now. I've tried two different cables with the projector. It's connected to the X0 like this.

X36O I-- XBOX 360 VGA HD AV-CABLE  --I-- VGA gender transfer (female to female) --I-- PL70 VGA to PL70 Connector--I Infocus PL70

XBOX 360 VGA HD AV-CABLE works fine with other monitors.
Infocus PL70 and  the cable works fine with computers. Picture and colours including blue are great.

So the problem is not any of those cables. They work fine. But not together.  uhh.gif  I can't connect with HD component cable cause the projector has no component input. Only composite (I wont use), S-video and VGA.

Should I just try to pretend I'm a MacGyver and start working with the PL70-cable pins?  cool.gif

thats really wierd, because usually you can pin it down to one issue, either the cable or the projector. i would reccomend trying again, running through all possibilities. try gently wiggling the connector when plugged in.

the other thign is are you using teh vga gender converter when plugging teh 360 to the monitor? that might be what is causing the problem

Hi

If you have a InFocus LP70 projector, then it could be that you have not done setup correctly.
Go ot the setup menu on the projector and choose the picture menu. Try a different color space. I have had similar problems with a projector that was expceting a component signal but is receiving an RGB signal. If this is not the problem then maybe there are some picture settings on the xbox that you can do change.

i dont think that there is a setting in the xbox that will change the colour balance. im sure there will be a setting in the projector, and it is worth a try. however, i am not 100% confident what the problem is.

I was referring to the signal type not the color balance.
The color balance should be ok since the picture looked fine on the CRT monitor.

are you using the gender changer when plugging the 360 into the monitor?

I have An INFOCUS X2 i just recently updated the firmware to my projector and set the high def options to 1080P on my 360 and the new firmware could actually handle 1080p even though i know for a fact that it truely is not 1080P due to the max resolution available to the projector but i know that the colors are way brighter than the original 1080i and i could see more details specialy on Gears Of War And Now My New Favorite Game NBA 2K7. By The Way Im Using The Component 2 DA Adapter Since VGA Adapters Dont Really Make My Projector Any better i Dont Think The VGA Adapter on The Projectors Were Built For Media Other Than PC's Also My HD DVD's Looks Awesome With A HDMI 2 DA Adapter Because The  DVI 2 DA Make The Whites Bleed To Much. Also Dont Forget To Mess With Your Projector MEnu And Change The Color Temperature From Cool , Warm, Warmer Mess With All  Of The Them For Games I Use Warmest And Warm For Movies . Cool Is More For SDTV I Think.

Is it an offical ms vga cable? Basicly all 3rd party ones suck ass. Try plugging it into your pc mon with the vga cable and check if its ok on that.. Then i rules out it being your xbox? Its most likely your xbox isnt compatible with your projector on the settings its set to.

Do you use the same type of connection with your PC that you do with the 360? If you do, and the PC shows like normal, than it's an issue with the cable or the 360. If both are messed, then it's your projector. If you're using different connections for your PC and your 360, it might be your projector.

In the case that it's your projector, I'd suggest taking it apart, and making sure none of the input cnonections are connecting anywhere inside the projector, and that all leads are intact (might be a bad solder connection that isn't letting red or blue in, possibly).

I have the same greenish tint on my new Panasonic Plasma TV. It is not there ALL the time. I have to play a game for about 5 mins and then it goes greenish. I have tried new cables and everything. I just tried to change from component to composite to see if I still had the problem and I no longer have any video output. I am sending it back to M Monday to get it fixed.

yeah that one sounds like the a/v connector on the back of teh xbox might be broken, or the gpus dying/dead
