Splitting Single Front Surround Signal In To Left And Right

Hi guys, I have a set of analogue creative 5.1 speakers, the front left and right signal comes out as one cable from my soundblaster card. I want to use these with my 360 with some sort of amp with optical input. As most amps have the left and right front as two seperate inputs if I split the signal from my sound card with a Y-splitter will I still get the correct sound in my left and right front speakers? Also does anyone know of an alternative to the creative DDTS-100 decoder as I need something to take input from my sound card (analgue 5.1) and optical from the 360. Thanks in advance.
