any ideas? its really bugging me, having this 'tear' as such when i play. its very hard to play.

I think you mean that it has COMPOSITE video.  Composite is the yellow connector (red/white are audio), whereas COMPONENT is the red, green, and blue connector.

You could always try an SCART to Component adapter, and see if your tv doesn't tear with that input:

Of course, this may (as in: most likely) won't work, as SCART is RGB, and Component is YPbPr.  IT could be some "magical" product though, as converting usually requires some form of "Black Box" converter hehehe.  I do remember some Sony TV came with a converter cable that had everything built in, but it's probably really expensive to find now.

it sounds like your TV doesn't support HD resolutions.

the tearing you see is the horizontal sync being too fast meaning it's not a VGA port it's an RGB port (which looks exactly the same but requires a slower horizontal sync).

Get yourself a SCART adapter and it will probably work better.
