Maybe do several hours of gaming with VGA, and see if you get used to it?

 laugh.gif that just wrong...

@ original poster.
what about other resolution? how are the quality? cos my HDTV res 1024x768 and up looks v.good when compared to component.

if you think they are bad. then you must be like one of my friend. he prefers component as it gives vivid(brighter) colour, sharper (jaggy) image. unsure.gif

Thanks for the assist guy,s, the screen shot of 720p does look a bit too sharp, but sitting back at a distance it's just perfect (hands down better than my 7950GX2 running Oblivion on a high spec PC monitor),
I'd be tempted to blame my TV's VGA input, but getting the same 720p vs VGA results on a Sony 32" as well as my Samsung has me baffeled, maybe it's my 360 thats the problem ?

Or maybe the component input quality on the newer LCD TV's are shitloads better than what you guys have seen so far tongue.gif (yeah I'll think I'll go with that hypothesis  biggrin.gif  )

The real issue here is that most LCD tv's do not pixel map as well as they should , like sending 1360x768 to a 1366x768 panel and having 3 dead pixel rows on each side . What most of todays LCD tv's do is scale that image vs. mapping it (even most of the high end models do this) . As for PC's working better the reason is that the timings are different (usually proper timings that follow standards) and most LCD tv's that have VGA are designed with PC use in mind (with a specific set of resolutions and preset timings for those resolutions) .

So getting a 1366x768p resolution hdtv for Christmas (using vga) is a bad idea as it would apparently look worse than a good quality sdtv?

^^

Nono, read again.  They're talking about 1360x760 native resolutions.  There is no problem with the 1366 native tv's.
