Question Regaurding The Vga Cable.
« on: September 03, 2006, 07:01:00 AM »

Yesterday I purchased a new 20" wide screen monitor (excellent).  The problem is that it only has one VGA port on it, so I have to constantly screw and unscrew the vga cable to switch between my PC and my xbox 360.  MY question is is there a switch I can have to hook both of these up to, and just push a button to switch back and forth?

Any KVM switch (keyboard, video, and mouse) will do the job.  But you don't need the 'keyboard and mouse' on the switch.  Maybe you can get a simpler vga switch, if they exist.

That is what I thought.  I just ended up ordering this one.

You might have problems. Some KVM like that requires power to the USB/PS2 connectors to switch. In youy case you will not have that for the port connected to the 360. If you do have that problem just return it and get a manual KVM. You can get them for like $10.

But you probaly will not, and I hope, have any problems.

No. No. No.  dry.gif  maybe ok for games but when using for PC any font 14 sized or below can be unreadable.

From the newegg site..
Power Features    USB Interface Power
So yea, it will need USB power. If ur going to return it, then find one with an external power adapter.

I have one and everything works fine. Even at righ res(1600x1200), I still see everything fine. It's all depends on what you buy. I have a KTM brand for $20.
