Vga Hd Vs. Component Cables
« on: August 30, 2006, 04:59:00 AM »

ey, what cable do you recommend for an lcd tv, because i have a lcd t.v. and its currently set on 1080i mode, but the screen doesn't look right, i mean the scale/resolution is fucked. i have talked to some guys they said they recommend vga hd cable over them component cables. also, i heard that vga lets you set your own resolution or someshit. i want ask yall gurus before i buy this thing, because i don't wanna waste my money on cables that do the same thing, you know what im saying? so yeah, any idea?  blink.gif

VGA and Component are the same.  Ive hooked up both to one of my lcd's and you cant tell a bit of difference.

VGA will let you set different resolutions, which might be a good option for you. And no, VGA and Component are not the same. Whats the model of your tv? Is it widescreen?

Yea, thats the problem. 1080i is a widescreen resolutin. Get the VGA cable, and you will have a few more resolutin options.

i might get that vga hd cable this weekend at bestbuy, but 1 question though, can i still feel that "HD" with vga cable? if you know what i mean. let's say my resolution is set to 1024x768 which is 4:3; does it even matter what resolution you use?  huh.gif

whatever your monitors native resolution is, run it that mode or close to it.

I think that VGA is hands-down better than component, like component is hands-down better than composite.  Plus, with VGA, the 360 will upscale DVDs.  It won't do that with component.

Many people earlier complained about "washed-out" colors with VGA (I thought that it was negligible; alas some people are super-picky), but it seems the spring update has upped the contrast in VGA to fix that.

VGA > Component >>>> S-Video > Composite >x10^5 RF

I have used both on my lcd tv and VGA is better. Component had more interference and after about 5 ins of playing with your VGA cable in the "wash out" isn't even noticeable. Vga all the way.

I agree, VGA is much better.  I'm so glad I switched from component to VGA with my widescreen LCD.

My 32 inch lcd tv also had the option for VGA or Component. So I also would like to know which is better?

Is it true that with the vga-cable the 360 scales dvd movies etc. up to the vga rsolution you have choosen? In my case 1366 x 768 (This format is the native res for my lcd tv and is supported by the 360).

Any info is welcome
