sounds cool.. i wouldnt mind picking it up.. im running out of inputs and ethernet ports.. this would be my setup:

So yeah... if i pick up a Wii and/or ps3... im basically pooped on  laugh.gif

i got a JVC component switch for 30 bucks on ebay... have that, filled (3 component, 2 composite) and an AV switch near filled... i am out of component, had to switch my ps2 to composite because i had no room...

definately wouldnt mind something with like 5 component inputs, with no interference at all.

How much is the quality loss on these boxes?

I mean, the picture would surely be better with a 360 connected directly to the tv than through this box?

It looks like a very nice box though, but i dont want to lose quality on the picture....

My home theater only has one optical input.  Am I correct in thinking that this will allow me to hook up several optical inputs to it?  Coool.

I'm also about maxed out on my power strips behind the TV.  This thing can replace my current hub...nice.

these devices are pass through devices, they don't typically convert signal. mine doesn't actually use any power at all

I bought this one for $20

So if you pay anymore for the same thing, you just got jipped! btw, mine does not use any power outlet, or batteries, its amazing. but it also doesn't use a remote, so if you are a lazy bastard then its not for you  (80% of xbox-scene just got wiped out)

But does yours have optical input/output?

Bells and whistles don't mean jack if the quality is crap

I've owned both the 1st and 2nd versions of the Score/Pelican selector, I've owned the cheap 20 switch sold at EB games and several others and they ALL added interference to the picture, getting worse at higher resolutions.

After buying and returning/reselling numerous selectors I finally got the Psyclone selector it has 4 inputs and 1 output each input has component, composite, s-video, analog audio and optical audio. And it has an LCD that can be programed to display whatever text you want when switched to a particular input.

It doesn't have as many inputs as some of the other selectors but the picture quality looks is as crystal clear as it did plugged directly into my projector. My ONLY problem with it is the remote only offers up/down selection as opposed to a single button to select a particular input, but that's not really a big deal IMO.

The only other selector I've seen with good quality is the Audio Authority 1154, which also only has 4 inputs.

So this selector is junk unless it proves to have good signal quality, here's hoping the delay was to work out any quality issues they were having.

Also I wouldn't recommend buying it with the intent to use the network hub "hubs" as opposed to "switches" can DRAMATICALLY reduce your networking speed, add lag, etc. IMO they shouldn't even bother if they're not going to make it a managed switch.

Hubs should be banned, there is no need for that crap anymore.

I don't mind my setup but one of my roomates still has trouble figuring out the tv :|, I should look into something like this or the Psyclone to dumbify things a little bit.  And if i do end up with a Wii and PS3 I'm short a component input and have no digitial audio inputs left on my amp, and that's not cool smile.gif

Now why can't a major manufacturer make something like this? I am still waiting for an affordable receiver with more than 2 component inputs and multiple digital audio inputs.

For example the benchmark Denon AVR-2807 receiver, billed as Denon's best receiver by CNET, has only 3 component inputs. Yet the device has 6 S-Video inputs, 4 S-Video outputs and 12 RCA analog stereo inputs, 8 RCA analog outputs, 6 Composite inputs and 4 composite outputs.

In order to get a receiver that has 6 component inputs from Denon you need to buy their top of the line model which is 7000 dollars and nearly 1 foot high.

I wish there was a decent receiver that dumped most of the legacy low quality connectors in favor of component.

That looks really good. I wonder what kind of prices they're asking. Also interesting they didn't even offer any hdmi inputs. But I don't know much about hdmi so maybe it would have a hard time going through an interface like that.

The article indicates that "input one is dedicated to the Xbox 360 and uses the same proprietary connection as the Xbox 360, so all the high definition video and 5.1 sound is just passed straight through"  Does that mean that I would be at a disadvantage connecting my Xbox 360 to this rather than my 7.1 channel Yamaha reciever for watching the few movies that have been released in 7.1 surround sound thus far?

I wish it could be set up to use that xbox 360 looking plug so that I could use the system selector with my xbox vga cord so i could hook up a ton of stuff to my Monitor (I don't have the luxury of HDTV yet)
