Well... you want something with optical INPUTS... not outputs.  The optical cable (sound) goes from the 360 to the surround sound system... so the 360 has an optical output and the surround sound has an optical input.

And moving to 360 Audio/Video Chat...

Try richer sounds they're generlly very cheap.

To bo honest though, anything that costs £100 new is of dubious worth. Especially if they include the speakers.

Usually I have found that good quality budget audio systems start at around £150/60. Pioneer do some very good budget setups. Hitachi do some good stuff as well, although I haven't seen thier surround systems.

Never buy Goodmans, Bush or Philips. The first two because they are generally shit and the third because Philips is generally designed for people with no technical understanding.

This really doesn't look bad:

JVC AV Receiver £99.99. It is just the receiver but the quality step up compared to a full setup for the same price is massive.

I bought the Logitech X-530 this past weekend. Its a 70 watt, 5.1 system and delivers good sound for an affordable price. It was $57 at Sams Club. Best buy has em for $80. I really wanted the Z-5500, but my wife denied me that system. I am quite happy though, with the cheaper one.

I have the Logitech Z5300e and I love it. I hope to up grade to the Z5450, for the little receiver it comes with, Ebay is an awesome place to find good cheap systems. Just look around and then when you find something you like check ebay. Got my recent system for $150 shipped to me, and it retails for $200.

I have a JVC TH-S3 http://www.homecinem...p?reviewid=5747 (there is a link to a pdf of a review, prices are as of march 2005) amp with a digital optical input that I plug my 360 into using its digital optical out.

It was about £150 about 18 months ago, so now you could pick one up for next to nothing. Its 300 watts of pure 5.1 grunt, it sounds excellent on G.R.A.W when the bullets fly past! Just sublime, I suggest that  wink.gif

Whether its still on sale I have no idea!
