Sorry you can't jsut do that, component is Y/Pr/Pb and VGA is RGB, two totally different signal types.

There are converter boxes out there, but they're too complicated to make, so it's easier (and cheaper) to just but the official VGA cable, or open your 360 and follow my tutorial to install a VGA port on the back of your 360

yeah VGA boxes will typically run you $50+

you can make them yourself but it will probably cost you about that much to make one not to mention it wont work as well or look as pretty AND you need to have the knowledge and skills to actually pull it off (there are no hand holding tutorials on the subject to my knwledge)

It'd be much cheaper to simply buy an official VGA cable, or as G0t M4xx 21 suggested wiring a VGA port up right into your console (so long as you're not adverse to getting your hands dirty).
