I really don't know what it is but the fact that it costs $99 tells me there is more to it than just an HDMI cable. Also it will ship on 12/1/06. I'm pretty sure that this isn't fake. So... discuss?

^^^interesting... It mentions Universal, yet, it has a 360 symbol next to it. And being $99, seems plausible seeing as how many other companies (monster cable for example) price their hdmi/dvi cables around $100.. but i mean come on.. the 360s video output isnt even digital

you can NOW buy Component to HDMI transcoder in the market or something like VGA to DVI or similar and they are VERY expensive. here is some info http://www.sewellsup...mponent-to-hdmi

Price gouging. Most people think an HDMI cable is supposed to be $100, when in reality you probably shouldn't be paying more than $30 or so (i guess if you have a cable longer than 6', it'll probably be more than that though). Just as a $3 optical audio cable is just good as a $150 one, the same applies to all other digital formats, including HDMI.

You have to look at this from an economists view. If it was cheaper for M$ to encorporate the HDMI port into the xbox 360 then they would do it but the matter of the fact is that they lose a ton of money on ever 360 sold. If M$ did add the HDMI port on the back they would be paying like maybe an extra $1 for each port and would in turn lose more money on every 360 sold. It just doesn't make economic sense for them to do it.

DVI is backwardscompatible with HDMI and viceversa so either would be nice... DVI gives a much cleaner image.

I have a Philips HDTV TFT with DVI-in, so I had to buy a component to DVI cable....

As for me I've got a 160GB 3.5' HDD duct taped to the top of my console, along with 5 fans to keep the damn console cool, so yes I'll miss an HD-DVD drive and digital out, but for my 1980 20' (dunno if its even 480i, did they ever make 320i?) Toshiba TV, these new specs really wouldn't help me, so don't fuss over it.

BTW, all of this information is from a guy who works for Microsoft, so unless they change something I can almost guarantee most of this is true.
