Vga Cable Shifted Image On Lcd
« on: June 20, 2006, 08:40:00 PM »

Update:

Hooked up to a DLP set, same result.

Also, hooked up to a 19" LCD monitor. Same result. The monitor can auto-adjust and compensate, but the TVs cannot.

Could this be a bad VGA cable? I called XBOX support, and they were clueless.

more than likely your cables are fine. try testing on another 360 if you have access to one.

bad monitor and cable support. it's a common problem with the cables. some have even reported that after the update the samsung monitor (same used in the in-store display) stopped working or malfunctioning.

my cables still work, however after the update i only get blue on ANY monitor i hook it up too prior to the update they worked flawlessly. (all other modes work flawlessly after the update) my vga cables are fine as i've tested them on 3 other 360s that work and one other that has the same issue as me.

One thing I had to do once I connected with VGA cables to my DLP, in the menu for that input, there was a "PC auto-adjust" option, that correctly sized and positioned my display to fill the screen. That option was only for analog devices connected via VGA or DVI. Other inputs are not affected, nor are devices connected with DVI-D. Maybe your display has something similar tucked away?

Tried another VGA cable... no luck...

Screw it, the update killed it for people that can't adjust an image on the screen.

Back to non-upconverting component.  grr.gif  grr.gif

How about trying to connect another VGA device to the TV, like a laptop's external display? This way you can pinpoint the problem better; if another device's display is skewed on the VGA input, it stands to reason the problem lies with your TV. Conversely, try connecting your 360 to another VGA-capable display, such as a computer monitor.

Good suggestions.

After hooking up a PC monitor to the XBOX360 via VGA, the same thing happened. Image was shifted a large amount to the left.

The monitor, however, corrected for this using image adjust.

A direct VGA input to the TV form a laptop yielded a perfect 1280x720 picture, no skew.

Looks like it's the XBOX360, not even new cables helped.  grr.gif  grr.gif
