Put A Vga Port On The Back Of Your 360!

Okay, can't edit the last post, so I must ask... Anyone know what all mode select pins there are?  I know Pin 20 is the VGA mode select pin, but what are the rest of the modes?

Edit: Found a pinout tutorial...  Can a mod delete this post please?

Thanx M4xx, I finally got it right using all the information you supplied.  You need to be a moderator in this forum somewhere dude.  I really appreciate all the information offered from XBS and all of my buddies can't believe the vast range of info given here.

Oh yeah.... As soon as I get all the Airbrushing completed on the case, I'll upload the images of what I actually did utilizing the information.  I'm getting started on that this weekend.

tbh - if you're doing it to be cost effective - then IMO it's not worth doing (it's a lot of effort) but that's not the point in the mod schene.  We do it because we can ... wink.gif

If you've got the parts lying around, then it's probably cheaper, but by the time you've gone to the shop, bought all the bits, wire etc, cursed 50 times 'why did I start this...' you can buy one cheaper on ebay.. smile.gif

PS - I've done this with mini coax cable and it's not 'easy' due to the limited space - the big pics make the soldering look easy but you need a good soldering/wire preperation skill level to make it work neatly ..

I just did this, pics will be up soon.

It works GREAT! Perfect screen, No interference, Great sound!

I cut up a old db25 cable and used the wires from that. It was only $5 at radio shack and a old cable. I then took an extra step and epoxy'd the connection and epoxy'd the wires to the board for security and I cant believe how great it works.

I've had tons of fun playing GRAW2 on the PC monitor it's 5000x better than my projector tv.

Anyone know why I would not get a picture when hooked up to a projector but too a monitor I do?

I did this mod a while back but now I want to use a projector  and it cannot detect the signal.

Thanks guys

The projector may not ground the pin that I use in my tutorial to enable VGA mode (it's a legacy thing so older PC's would know whether a color or black and white monitor was plugged into it)

You can try hooking the video mode pin to a switch on the back of the 360 or something

I am thinking about doing something like this to an extra 360 that I picked up for cheap. I have few questions before I try it though.

-Could I use an extra floppy or IDE cable for all the wire needed?
-Can I just cut off the vga port from an old video card and use it instead of buying one?
-Can I use my cheap 30 watt soldering iron from radio shack or should I buy something better with like 15 watts?

I need some help here. I soldered everything up except the audio and have tried to get the picture to switch multiple times. Unfortunately the picture stays on the tv and nothing shows up on the monitor. The monitor does recognize a signal coming in, but still only a black screen. I have re soldered everything twice and am at a loss for solutions. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

wellmodded: There is a pinout here at llamma.

brooksyx: You could get 30/15 watt soldering iron from radioshack. Just make sure you use the 15 setting and get a 15 watt tip also and the old vga port will work fine if it is one of the adapters, otherwise it would be male comming from the card and you need female.

answering these questions will be appreciated  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I'm not doing this mod to be cost effective or something, it is just I'm in an area where there are no spare parts or accessories for xbox 360   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)  and this is the only way to use my monitor instead of standard TV..
