New Crt Technologies To Rival Lcd And Plasma

Has anyone heard of these?  Samsung's Vixlim displays and Toshiba's new SED technology?  It looks like it has been on the shelf for almost two years now.  Hopefully it will be released soon.

I've never heard of Vixlim

SED has been talked about for a while, I've seen one and it looks really nice but despite what they say it sounds really expensive.

I'm waiting for LED/DLP tech for projectors and OLED tech for direct view personally

I read somewhere that SED was going to be prone to burnin, but I am unsure if this is true or not. Regardless it probably isn't worth waiting for this tech, get an affordable interim hidef display device.

Ever seen a CRT tube burn in? Probably not its a rare thing, your pc monitor never burns in the desktop does it?

my parents old TV (before they upgraded to their LCD) has both the weather channel logo and the news 9 logo burned into it.... The old TV I had as a kid has "Mario Bros" burned into it too  laugh.gif

And my Sony Trinitron backup monitor has the entire start bar burned in across the bottom as well as the my computer burned into the top left.

Just because YOU'VE never seen burn in doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

If you want to see some serious burn in just go look at CRT based airport monitors or walk into an arcade and look at some of the older games.

SED sets are prone to burn in. Thats one of the reason's its release has been pushed back. It was originally supposed to be out at the end of this year. Not to mention they are gonna be hella expensive.

I have the sonic screen burnt into one of our CRTs, though after taking care of it for the past 8 years not pausing it and leaving it, It seems to have faded a bit
