The samsung is nice...however its also about $500 out of budget for me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif). and the perfect dark 0 thing..i played it on my tube tv and got the same effect, so unless my tube tv has a high reponse time (is that even possible?) then its in PD0 like langlest said. Does Battle Field modern combat also have the same effect? (i get it on both tvs) I'm also thinking my tv is black to white response time...it seems pretty good. and was also listed as "<16ms". And if i do get ghosting..can't i just play with 1080i so that it runs at 30fps instead of 60? lol.

And thanks for all the help guys...really really aiding my decision process here.

yep smile.gif BF2 gets it too but its a lot more subtle than it is in PD0, CRT cant have a slow response time but they can suffer ghosting. i bought a 100hz Toshiba and it was terrible, the tv was useing some kind of interframe blending & made playing the xbox a nightmare

a) how much? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) how big?

i'm taking a wild guess that its an LCD monitor (rather than tv) costing about $500 cdn, at about..20 inches, maybe 19.

Because PC gaming for one is faster paced then most console games to begin with. And they do have lower response time lcd's but you're talking big money you're better off getting a DLP or something. Theres the 3007 by dell its 30 inch's, I own it and it's amazing at 2560x1600 running COD2/BF2/F.E.A.R at max. And I remember seeing a 2 ms samsung lcd being sold by voodoo or falcoln-NW that was 42 inch's but it was expensive as hell.

Everything I have read in my HDTV research pointed to the fact that DLP is the absolute worst system you can buy for gaming. It also has one of the shortest lifespans out of all available technologies. Yes the picture is fantastic if not one of the best but it's not worth the short lifespan.

Actually, if you are going to use an RPTV for gaming, DLP is better than CRT for gaming because DLP is not succeptible to burn-in.

What do you mean by "short life span"? Do you mean having to change the bulb? Any projection tech is going to involve that. Different makes get more bulb life than others.

Plasma is probably the worst display for gaming, they are most succeptible to burn-in. It would suck to ruin that spankin' $5000 Pioneer with a GRAW HUD burn-in.
