Vga Adapter- True Vga Or Upscaled?
« on: April 26, 2006, 04:47:00 PM »

I have a computer projector which I use as a TV.  My projector is native 4:3 but has near HD resolution and supports HD.  Using the component cable, my projector is letterboxes 16:9 signals so my screen is not filled.  Im considering getting the VGA cable but only if it displays true VGA.  I would hate to get the cable and then find out that its just upscaling 480p.  True VGA should look as crisp as HD just using a 4:3 aspect ratio.  Is that the case or is it upscaled?

Its true VGA. I use it on my 19in CRT with the resolution 1280x1024 and it looks tons better then on my friends HDTV running 1080i.

it outputs "true" vga via the VGA Cable.

but some games, such as PGR3, TombRaider only supports 16:9 (Widescreen). So in your case, 1280x1024 you would get letterbox size.
