Screen To Use With Xbox, Pc And Dvd Player
« on: March 25, 2006, 10:17:00 AM »

I have at the moment, a 17" tft that i use for xbox 360 (via vga), my pc (vga again) and a dvd player (tv in on pc). I want to upgrade to a bigger screen, as the current screen doesn't quite cut it for the 360 games.

I am looking to buy a tv (no tuner necessary really) that will accept component, vga and composite (and scart preferably). It needs to be 26" or larger, and i have a limited budget of around £650.

I have found this. Would it be any good for me? If not, can you recommend any that would be?

It would be able to do 720p, but will it do 1080i?

Sorry to ask these silly questions, but i have read the stickeys, and done some research and still am confused.

Last question, will it work ok for my pc needs? At the moment, i am using 1280x1024.

I hope someone can help me out here smile.gif

Well it already says on the product page it supports VGA (PC D-SUB, a quick google would have made it obvious that is the real name for the VGA port) and SCART (including S-Video and Composite) AND component.

As for 1080i, it might support it but it will scale it down so you REALLY do not want to use it.  Again it clearly states the resolution is 1366x768 so of COURSE it doesn't display 1080i.  Unless you absolutely have no choice (and I do not see why that would happen) then you are going to want to display at 768p if at all possible (the X-Box 360 can do 1360x768 so would be ideal as you are only losing 3 pixels either side of the screen if you have it NOT stretched to fit which would look best), failing that 720p should look okay.
