Good Tv For Gaming (360 Mostly)
« on: February 28, 2006, 11:53:00 PM »

xbox360 looks good on standard tvs as well, but the hdtv makes it more clearer/sharper to see and is much more detailed, but the standard tv is the same way as well.

I would just find a cheap standard tv or a hdtv,  i have a 27 inch samsung hdtv for $580.00 or so from circuit city and im pleased with it.

I was basically in the same boat as you recently. Needing a tv just for gaming, 360 and pc. I wasnt really interested in paying several thousand for a high end hdtv at this point, so I went with a Viewsonic N3250w. It's a 32 inch LCD and I'm extremely happy with it . I payed right at $1000 shipped, a couple months ago, but I've seen it as low as $840 (w/rebates) lately.

Here's a review : http://reviews-zdnet...6-31456723.html

Hope this helps.

Sony KV-30HS420 30" HDTV, Sony makes the best CRT's. I have the set and couldn't be happier unless i had the Sony XS or XBR. CRT still provides the best picture.

Sure Sony's good...but would a small Sony HDTV set be worth the price?  It's not like he's looking for a home theater.
Still, if you're looking for quality and don't care what you spend, the Sony is good.

Small Sony worth the price?  Did you SEE the price?  $679... for a 30" HDTV, that really isn't bad at all.  Yeah, it may be a hideous TV (alot of HD tubes are), but it's still a relatively cheap HDTV.  Almost tempting to buy for the bedroom...

Exactly.

"Yeah, it may be a hideous TV (alot of HD tubes are), but it's still a relatively cheap HDTV. Almost tempting to buy for the bedroom..."

Very far from a hideous TV, Actually if you read on the home theater forums and reviews by video profesionals and calibrators its ranked as the 3rd best consumer HDTV for picture quality, The only two ahead of it are the Sony XS and sony XBR (the best) because they have the super fine pitch tubes. The 30HS420 still has the very high quality video amplifier in it that provides the best picture. Alot of people will argue this point but ask a ISF calibrator thats been calibrating about every tv and they will tell you the same. I had my Sony 30HS420 ISF'd a couple months ago by one of the most well known video profesionals in the business and he also pointed this out and that CRT's still offer the best image quality. Other CRT's being hideous i would agree with besides the panasonic 30" set which isn't bad but has some problems.

I wasn't referring to the picture quality (I haven't seen it in person, so I have no opinion), I was talkin' about the actual look of the television itself.

Ahh, Ok. Well if you go look at it don't be thrown off by the red push in fleshtones or anything else as it can all be adjusted in the service menu. I thought i wouldn't like the cabinet also but its grown on me.
