Here's what I'd recommend you look for:
Component Video input (sometimes called "Colorstream") This looks like 3 RCA cables Red, Green, and Blue in color.
Also You'll want a display with a natural resolution of 1280x720 or higher, and a native aspect ratio of 16:9. Natural resolution is very different from maximum resolution. Natural resolution is the actual resolution you see on the screen. Maximum is the highest the electronics can accecpt (resolutions higher then the native are downscaled to the native).
For the best quality audio you'll want something that can handle Optical SPDif, it's very rare that a TV will have inputs for that, but if your surround sound system does that's fine.
The higher the contrast ratio the better, I would recommend 1500:1 or higher
If you want to stay future proof and compatible with other things, then make sure it has an HDMI or DVI port with HDCP... That's the important part, HDCP. Most new HD devices wont work in Hd without an HDCP capable device.
Also make sure the display supports ALL of the following 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Lots of TVs will support crap like 540p instead of 480p, don't be fooled 540p isn't a real resolution, Also TVs that only support either 720p or 1080i wont be as compatible as those that support both.
good luck
