Vga Cable - What Hdtv Or Lcd Monitor Does It Work Well With?
« on: January 26, 2006, 10:19:00 AM »

My vga cable (third party) displays the usual washed out colours on a 21" HP 4:3 CRT. Even with adjustments to the brightness and contrast it looks far better colour wise on my old 30" Toshiba 4:3 normal TV which is a shame cos the extra resolution really shines. The monitor looks fine with a PC as I ran COD2 on the pc to compare. I'm going to be in the market for a HDTV soon and I'm looking at the 26" Samsung. How well does this or other LCD HDTVs cope with VGA and which one gives a good compromise.

The Xbox 360 VGA cables have problems with displaying the picture anything but washed out.

until it's fixed I'd avoid using one.

Darn, i'd read some have a 'PC' and 'TV' mode that makes a difference in how the colour values are processed

I got MS VGA cables, used on my 17" LCD monitor looks good

Now, using them on my 43" EDTV Plasma and looks f**king awesome way better than component. Don't buy any 3rd party VGA cables

I have the MS VGA cables, and have nothing bad to say about them.   The image looks great, colors are great, and everything works as it should.   I have them running to my Viewsonic P225, and everything is great.

What I have found though personally, is that the VGA cables seem to work better with CRT  PC monitors.   Many of the nice LCD PC monitors people use these days just have too high of a native resolution, and everything has to be scaled up to the high native resolution, and looks like dirt.

But, with a CRT, you can have basically any resolution you want, and thus the comparatively lower resolution output of the Xbox 360 scales just fine on them.   So, it really kind of depends on what type of monitor you plan on using as to what kind of picture you should expect.   But, I myself, and 2 of my friends, all have the VGA cables running to nice CRT PC monitors, and everything is good.

Get a projector instead.

Way better than a LCD in my opinion, For the price at least.

Although a huge flat screen on your wall looks impressive, you cant beat playing on a 6ft by 8ft screen.  Plus some of the HDTV projectors out just now are stunning...
