Yes but a crt image quality, let alone a pc monitor, will kill any lcd's in terms of dark levels and color vibrance.

You cannot beat a sony trinitrons flat crt pc monitor in picture quality with anything else, and that goes for any plasma, lcd, or dlp.  The only down side is the size, but at 24" widescreen is nothing to scoff at.

Widescreen all the way. I have a 50 inch pioneer plasma and I love it. The only complaint is when I play fps games I have to actualy move my eyes to see everything when scanning an area, lol.. But that just adds to realilsm I guess lol... A tip on size is only get a tv that you can sit twice the width of the screen away from. In other words if you buy a 32 inch make sure you can sit 64 inches away. It may sound weird but that is actualy suposed to be the best viewing distance. Seems to hold true from what I have seen.  Good luck and enjoy..

not being nitpicky or anything but tvs and monitors sizes are measured diagonally

To optimize this monitor's performance, your system must be able to support WUXGA resolution (1920x1200).

The sony 24" fw900 crt's native res is the same, but it is a crt so not an issue.

You will get more for your money with a CRT- but it will be heavy, and probably big.
LCD's at a decent size and a decent resolution will be a minimum $1000 with a great deal/price cut/coupon available to you.

Plasma, add on another $500 to the price of a LCD of whatever size you are looking at.
A DLP projector would be another option to get a good resolution and size for the xbox 360.
So you really need to decide- How big? How much? what types are you willing to consider?  Then you can get some good recommendations

Zenith C37V32
is what I use, it is a CRT, weighs 150 lbs. It runs around $800 if you can find one, Best Buy is where I got mine. And what is nice, I can watch the ball game and play xbox with the split screen feature- it has two tuners.

That would be a good one, nice price. QAM is probably some Philips Electronics term.

The QAM Tuners actually decodes HD signals running through cable lines its a nice feature mostly sonys have them I wish they put em in all the tv's definatly a nice feature no antenna or other bs needed for HD but that's only if your cable company has the HD service. As for a LCD I just bought a Soyo 32" LCD specs below from www.ecost.com for 875.00 with 50.00 rebate the screen is made by LG its a really nice LCD for the price.

This Sony 30" HDTV has gotten great reviews and can be found for under $1000.  So if you don't mind the extra weight of a crt/tube tv then this may be something to consider, as tube tv's are on par with, or exceed the picture quality of most LCDs and Plasma displays.
