Hdtv Woes...
« on: January 16, 2006, 03:19:00 AM »

I have a 30" HDTV that acts funny with only the xbox 360. It natively does 1080I, but when i set ti to 1080i it cuts about a half inch off the top. I cannot adjust the display with the tv itself. With 720p, it cuts about a half inch off the bottom. My xbox 360 is connected via component cables via a switch. I tried it without the switch, and I got the same results. Should I try the VGA cables because my TV has a DVI input? Will this possible help the half inch problem? Thanks in advance.

one thing about crt hd's if not adjusted tuned by a technian they usually have bad overscan. if you feel good enough about yourslef you can figure out how to get to the service menus and adjust it.

www.avsforums.com would be a good place to look

or you can pay to get your tv professionally tuned.

and you will never get centerd and full image (cut of appox 5mm from all sides) via component cable, no matter what TV you have.

No, prankfurter was referring to having a trained, certified Imaging Science Fondation technician come to your house with special calibration equipment, go into the service menus of your TV and make serious adjustments to very sensitive display mechanics of your set.  While costly (usually ~$400 from what I have read) it is well worth the cost as these fellows will get the absolute perfect picture out of your set.  They would be able to get it centered as best as possible.  If you click the link the ISF website has a locator for certified dealers/techs.
