« on: January 10, 2006, 10:35:00 AM »

yes
component is the best input to use in any case
the cable you get with the 360 has both component and composite in one cable so you will disguard the yellow plug.
it will push 480p  witch is  basicly ED tv not HD tv.

You're incorrect, Like Crobar said the Premium comes with both Component and composite

Now I know that the quality goes like this, composite - s video - component - hi def - vga - , now my question is if I dont have a hi def tv will these cables still bring me better picture quality.

there is no such thing as "hi def" type video cables. There are several types of cables that can transmit a hi-def signal though, Component is one of them. Component video can be used to transmit Standard Definition, Enhanced Definition, or High Definition....

I suggest you read my "AV formats Demystified" guide which is linked in the sig and stickied in the AV form.... which is where this post is getting moved  wink.gif

If you have component inputs on your tv then use those. Even without having an HD-ready set you should still get the best picture that way. Just make sure the selector swith on the 360s AV cable is not set to HDTV.
