Help Me Buy A Hdtv
« on: January 03, 2006, 12:19:00 AM »

are you near a sams club?  I know it seams like an odd place to buy a TV but I was there one day shopping and came across this GEM.  I think this is an amazing TV.

http://www.samsclub....8:-36941:934545

It replaced my tv in my family room.  I thought the price seemed a bit too good to be true but it is the price.  Went home, read a couple reviews, bought it and have been really, really happy with it.  Speakers are good for what they are and you might, in the end want to buy some type of surround sound system.

Good luck

samsungs aren't the best tvs in the world. i know that all of there lcd's get marginal, if not bad reviews and have a high return rate. i don't pay attention to crt so i can't give any advisement.

To be honest with you, I've heard the complete opposite about Samsung's LCD displays...

...from what I've heard they have the best quality control standards, a 0 tolerance for dead pixels, etc - so strict that they even motivated Nintendo to uphold the same policy with their LCD displays on the NDS.

Maybe my sources are incorrect, I'm just going off what I've read around the 'net.

I would stick with the samsung crt you pointed out in your original thread.  I haven't been very impressed with lcd flat panels in general and most plasma's I've noticed artifacting on all plasma's under 2k.  That crt is your best choice unless you want to save up for a lcd or dlp rptv or a real exspenive plasma such as the panny px50 units or pioneer ones.  You won't find a better picture then that samsung crt unless you look at a sony xbr and that difference will be marginal only downfall to a crt is size, you would lose a lot going to that flat panel lcd.

id stay away from slimfits, id look at panasonic(finer dot pitch then samsung, that means higher resolution and crisper picture, and sony would be best look at the 30XS955 if you cant find that in your range the 30HS420 is still superior to any other non sony tv)

When I go to BB, the LG lcd snd Plasmas do stand out.  They look nice.  I am always a little skeptical with new to the market companies though. LG is coming out with other really nice stuff - even their appliances are quite nice.

I just purchased a 52 inch RCA HDTV from Best Buy for 999.99 it came to 1062 with tax. I heavly suggest buying it, it is a projection TV but it looks amazing and it's a very good price. It's on sale still!
