Just wondering if anyone else has tried this. Its the cheapest I've found so far...
Hopefully I dont get what I pay for..

Hmm. I dont know.
On Walmarts picture, it looks like there may be a space there for the optical cable.
But its not listed in specs.

My guess would be yes, but I wont know till it shows up.

I had the regular component one. I tried 3 of them, and none of them worked with optical...

They had the optical port, just didnt work.

yeah, i thought that i raed somewhere that none of their cables had optical sudio.

i think at this stage, only the M$ cables are the ones that have the optical connector on them.

The Pelican 360 VGA cable has Optical output on it but if it is like most of their 360 Component cables the optical out will not work .

I found the Pelican wires at BestBuy for $19.99 after I had got the m$ Hd wires. I planned on taking the M$ wires back(they were unopened) after Christmas and get my $40 back. Thanks for the heads up Chris.
It sounds like from a few sources that the OPTICAL does not work in these cables.. that is okay for me,
since I dont have digital in my computer room.

I still have the cable on order and will post my findings when it arrives... could be that you just got a bum cable Chris... I wouldn't start steering people away from something because of one reported instance of bad video - I'm sure not all the MS cables work perfectly either.
Not calling you a liar, I just think we should get some more opinions on the quality before turning everyone away from these things.

Anyone else order or use these VGA cables?

I will be bummed a little if the video is crap like Chris mentioned - but then again.. I probably will get what I pay for. I'll post back and let you know if I have the same symptoms as Chris.

Hmm I have the component ones for my 46" upstairs and they worked fine, optical and everything.

maybe the optical transmitter is not included on the VGA cables, but are on the component ones. has anybody else got any cables that would support that idea?

hey guys

just got sent one of these cables from america bought from ebay.

bought it coz it was advertised as having an optical output (was not listed as 3rd party)

when i recieved it there was a piece of plastic over the optical port so i assumed it was some sort of cover. Had to phisically pop the casing off to remove it and when i did what did i find? no optical port AT ALL.

nothing. not even a board just the wires coing to the vga block. AAAARGGGHHH!!!

looked up about the make etc found it was a pelican. Advertised everywhere as having optical out MINE MUST BE A CHEAP ASS FAKE!!

picture quality is good no lines or blurring quite crisp and still have the ability to choose resolutions.

so i dont know if this is any help as this cable may be a fake but what the hell is the point in faking a cheap ass 3rd party peripheral?

hmm, i was waiting for some aftermarket vga cables to appear. true, if you spent all this money on the 360, you should probably spend the extra 20 bucks on a decent cable. but then again, i spent ALL my money on the 360

i'll check the local walmart and see if they have it in stock. i know gamestop, compusa and fry's didn't have anything this weekend. i'll post my results.
