Is there an HDMI connection for XBox 360?  I don't have one yet but was wondering.  My LCD TV only has a DVI input, not HDMI.  Would it be possible to convert from HDMI to DVI with a cable?

VGA and DVI/HDMI are a completely different thing, one being analog and other digital. The convertors that do a proper job converting VGA to DVI/HDMI have complex circuitry inside and need an external power source.

Oh yeah, and the usual price range is from $400 to $1000.

Edit: I remember hearing something about some new LCD televisions accepting VGA input to DVI with a adapter. If that's possible in your TV set, those kind of adapters can't be too expensive.

theres three types of dvi, DVI-D(digital) DVI-A(analog) and DVI-I(both), pcs for example are dvi-i so a simple adapter to shape the plug for vga works, the LCD or any tv for that matter would have to be DVI-I and capable of displaying the analog signal(to my knoweldge nothing really uses dvi-a....its basically VGA)so really your getting NO benifit of a digital image(from an analog source anyway)

Has anyone tried using a vga to dvi-d converter

First such an adapter costs $300 minimum and all you are doing is digitizing the analog signal anyway, so you are actually going into introduce a loss in video quality during the conversion.  But yes, it can be done.

I have a connector similar to this, http://i53.photobuck...p9x/DVI2VGA.jpg  it came with a video card. Will one of these work?? The horizontal line type pin connection (circled in red) on the back of my TV doesn't have holes for the 2 pins above and below it?? blink.gif  The pins circled in yellow are the ones on my adapter. Please anybody with experience in this please post an answer.

Thanks, XzeneR
