Plasma Tv I'm Thinking Of Buying
« on: December 06, 2005, 11:53:00 PM »

Sorry for the second thread, but I thought this should go into another thread..

Well, I would like to pay monthly when I buy a TV, so I thought of dell, I had a dell monitor, and it has GREAT quality.

Well, here is the link: Click me!

it's $5,152.16 including a 10 Outlet Isolator PureAV Protector

I would be paying $131/month for 48 months... is this a good deal?

IMO no not at all, you could get one for half the price easy... Thats up in $onys price range and they are pretty much outrageously overpriced because of their name, nothing else. Try newegg, tigerdirect, anywhere but Dell..  tongue.gif

u could get the dell...or apply for a futureshop or whatever they got up there credit card and get no interest for a year or 2 and purchase whatever tv you want.

But i'm not really sure about the plasma technology i'm more of a DLP person my self. But it does look like a nice tv.

I would think more about the burn in risk, LCDs are comperable in that size range and have no risk of burn in, it doesnt take as long as you would think because the little power bars or health meters that stay on the screen the whole time you play are what really causes damage.

I've been reading on, posting on the dell forums.. all of this burn-in is over hyped..

If you do it correctly, not playing games 24/7 (I wont be)

not watching tv channels all the time with those awful icons in the bottom right corner, or watching 4:3 dvd's all the time will stop the burn-in

True but why place those viewing restrictions on your self.

Stick with plasma, you have done your research.

*NEVER* buy an LCD TV for gaming.  The refresh times are around 5x more than plasmas, making them ugly as hell for action scenes in games and regular TV.  You will see 'ghosting' and 'trails' since they are so slow.

DLP's aren't a bad option either.

To be honest if I was spending the money you are, I would go with the new Sony SXRD's.  Their newest versions came out a few months ago and are 1080p.  Their visual quality is right at Plasma at a lower price per inch and no risk of burn in (even though it is very small).

they arn't really viewing restrictions, most of the time it's only if you're watching tv and the little icon thing is solid, and you're watching it 5 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, when there will be burn in.

I only know of one channel that has a solid icon, Spike TV.

All the other channels I watch usually go translucent after 30 seconds, or dissapear..

As it is, I don't play that many games, and it would be a nice addition to my home.

Are you serious? Five grand for a plasma TV?

Just shop around at a retailer, a lot of them offer financing options. I know Best Buy is offering no interest until 2008.

And come on, be realistic, you're willing to pay $130 for FOUR YEARS? Don't you have bills, college loans, etc to pay for? What happens if you lose your job?
