?

If it does not have a digital output then it won't. I can't seem to find any info at all on this.

I want to buy a hdmi cable, but not if all it is is a converter. I want to know if the 360 will send a digital signal out, to the digital cable, to my tv.

I don't want to buy the cable if all it is doing is converting a analogue signal into digital.

Well someone from M$ DID state that it would be capable of it... whether or not they will actually produce a DVI/HDMI cable has yet to be mentioned.

my question has nothing to do with it being able to use a hdmi cable.

it's about the signal the 360 sends out. Will it send a digital signal or is it only a analogue signal?

There are already hdmi cables for pre-order, I don't care about the cable. i'm wondering about the 360 itself.

I know.

Again, simple question, can the 360 output a digital signal, as from what I have read it is only a analogue signal and any hdmi cables will just be converting the signal.

Will the 360 be able to output natively a digital signal?

Can anyone confirm this? Or will this only be something if there is a hd-dvd rom version?

I was thinking if they are wanting to stream true hd content from a pc it would out digital

For $25 for that cable, I seriously doubt the cable is doing any conversion.

So chances are good that you're getting a true digital signal from the Xbox.  And I've also heard that MS stated the 360 would be "capable" of HDMI out which makes me think it's native.

I'm being told that the chip on the 360 iself only outputs a analogue signal.

I hope not, but no-one can seem to confirm or deny it.

I would think they would out of the box for streaming high def content.

the video encoder in the 360 is programmable, so a bios update via live could enable digital output, like they added the 1280x1024 resolution via an update.

The Xbox 360 does not output a digital signal at this time.  I believe that it is a misprint because Amazon lists the same product, but they call it "Xbox 360 Live Wire 10' HDMI Component Cable".  The picture shows the standard component cable.

http://www.amazon.co...ce&s=videogames

Both sites list the model number as "PL3618", so i think it is just a mistake in the product name.

Its high def, it outputs at 1080i in HD, i'd assume that its pritty much digital, cause i've never seen an analauge system do that.

just because the source is highdef does in no way mean the signal being tranferred of the cable is digital

The video that goes through component cables is an analog signal.  There's no digital information being transmitted.  Whereas a DVI or HDMI cable transmits a digital signal to ur TV which ur TV then decodes.  That's why most TVs that have HDMI or DVI with DHCP cost more than the latter; it requires the right harware and software.

Anyways, what I was gettin' at was if you can find a DVI/HDMI cable for the 360 that actually works, then it's digital.  A conversion of that signal would require a little more than just a cable... it's not like a headphone jack to RCA plugs.

So then its like really really good, bad quality. Ha, and this things suppose to be a next-gen console. So then the VGA and HDMI cables that we use for the monitors are digital, but the ones we use for are TVs arnt? hmm i thought they were.

I said component is not digital.  And you use VGA or DVI for monitors... I don't think you use HDMI.  HDMI carries audio and monitors don't have speakers.

What does not being able to broadcast in digital have anything to do with next-gen?  It's still HD.  DVI/HDMI makes minimal difference for HDTVs.
