Hey All,
The component has the optical 5.1 audio connector. If I want to use VGA cable where do I plug my optical 5.1 sound then?

Please don't tell me I can't use optical 5.1 when I have VGA cable plugged in.

I don't know for certain but from the pictures I've seen of the VGA adapter it looks like it has the optical out on it on the same place as all the other video out cables.

yeah, i think all of the a/v cables have the optical plug on the avip plug

the composite a/v cables i got with my core system dont have optical out but my vga and component cables do.

I have a feeling that it does NOT support optical connector for audio.Where is this connector that you are talking about?

Every Xbox 360 AV cable except the composite that comes with the Core version has an optical connector on the back of the plug.

If you notice the wire come out of one side of the plug going into the 360, that's because the other side has an optical connector on it that looks like this:

You'll need to supply your own optical cable but that's what you need to connect to your receiver for surround sound.

well most of these cables are damm expensive...i think ill just go the m$ one for now
