Humm, I have a Sony plasma that claims to be hdready ( it has component ), but it's resolution is 1024x1024 (16:9), how the hell will this work on the xbox360? I'm considering buying one.

Thanks, want to make sure i'm not losing out on quality.
Those things are so darn bright they could kill you.

yeah well as long is its a considered 'widescreen' resolution, just make sure you have highest supported resolution

umm. NO. 1024 x 1024 isnt a normal resolution, mainly becasue that would mean its SQUARE.

but i bet it was a typo. what did you really mean?

1024x1024 would be perfectly square, not rectangular.

Yes, but the TV is a 16:9, so it must be rectangular right?

well if there were rectangular pixels, then 1024 x 1024 would work. but RECTANGULAR pixels...WTF

it would look weird

It makes me confused too, but here is the model http://www.sony.ie/v...escreen 16x9 TV

well then it must use rectangular pixels. i would have though that that would give it a very deformed image though.

as for hooking up the 360, just use component cables, and pick the higest resolution it will display (id bet 1080i)

i still think it would give a strange image. but if it wasnt geting a digital image, it would be able to scale it to fit, so maybe it'd work

It has to be a typo. Any real HD content would look retarded if it was actually 1024x1024 pixels on the screen to create 16:9. Especially when the 16.9 part refers to the pixel ratio, not the screen measurement ratio. Infact, if its 1024x1024, then you can't properly display 720P or anything higher either. 720P = 1280x720, and 1280 is more than 1024, so it can't display all 1280 pixels; aka - it would look retarded. Heck, thats gotta be the first Plasma I've seen listing 1024x1024 pixels.

It's no typo at all, if you google for plasmas, you will see that most of them are 1024x1024, weird but truth.

yeah there are widescreen plasmas with the odd resolution of 1024x768..
also 1280x1024 normal mode with 360 vga adapter should give a bordered picture of the game, and dash remains full. only exception is with pgr3 which stretches in race.. not too bad if you can adjust your monitor, though.

Well then thats another good reason to avoid Plasma.

Although all the plasmas I've seen had a normal ratio. I've seen 1024x768 as mentioned above, and even normal widescreen ratios, but never 1024x1024.

So we know for sure that 1440x900 isn't supported?

I like this moniter, but the native res looks unsupported.

i agree.

the only way that they can then display a correct image is to internally scale it so taht teh image fits the pixels for display.

as for the guy who said about pgr3...that game is coded badly. if you look around, everyone else also says that it doesnt siplay properally in the game itself.
