How Many Xboxes Have You Destroyed?
« Reply #15 on: October 17, 2004, 12:31:00 PM »

I've done 7 softmods (6 UDE2, 1 old style), 3 LED color swaps, and a Jewel, so I'm not exactly a mod master, but I have a 100% success rate.......eventually.  So far 3 of my softmods didn't go perfectly as planned, so I've had to resort to luck and a bit of voodoo to get them to work.

I really need to get out the soldering iron and start doing real mods.

Worked perfectly after that.  Only way you could tell it happened was the arc mark on the hard drive, which also worked.  Why the hell is the heat sink on the powersupply hot and not ground?

So out of about ten modded boxes, all have left my posession working (thompson non-withstanding)

I've destroyed 3, though I did hone my soldering skills on one of the broken ones. The first one I flashed the TSOP with some BIOS that I know for 200% sure were good, but it kept restarting (not the clock loop). The second I did the exact same thing. So I got a DuoX chip for both, got pissed at the first chip since their so damn hard to make work and desoldered it, same thing on the second one, but I accidentally left 4 of the LPC points soldered together and it cracked and fried the MXCP(sp?) chip. On the third and final one, I wasn't paying attention because I was watching Futurama and I accidentally dropped a large solder strand into the box, fired it up, and it smoked like a 70's hippy who had nothing better to do.

I've killed two of them. My first two attempts at enabling the TSOP for flashing on a 1.0. I was using an iron that was to hot and i messed up some traces and knocked one of the resistors off of the motherboard. I still have both boards and they can probably be fixed if anyone would like them...

Speaking of resistors, anyone know the value for R4A1? It is located just under one of the screw holes for the video connector.

Thanks!

Yes I think I screwed mine up last week by flashing BIOS using slayers (DOH!). I have the 007 Hack with properly done TSOP so how the feck it went wrong I have no idea. So I don't think i'll venture into trying to repair it because i'll touch it and it'll evaporate, might get some help on it. Any ideas anyone?

I have modded about 5 xboxes and only had problems with this one that I modded last night.  Maybe you guys can help.  I don't know if just the power supply is bad or if something else caused the power supply to fail.

Just one.  This is an xbox that I fit with a solderless chip for a friend.  It worked fine at my house.  Then he brought it home and about  1 week of using later the mother board was shot.
