Let me be the first to say what homer once said; "Excellenté!"

They do stress its all digital but how come MS doesnt sell one if they already have a cable that switches the signal processor to DVI/HDMI digital output  blink.gif

I'll want to see a picture of the cable before buying it, if it has a box on it big enough to fit an analog-digital modulator than no thanks. The signal will be better with just the component or vga cables in that case.

More news from pelican

Pelican Introduces Next Generation HD System Selector
November 2nd, 2005
Going on the premise that bigger is not always better, Pelican has introduced its new High Definition System Selector that connects multiple video game, audio and other entertainment systems to your television. The new HD System Selector has been downsized from Pelican’s enormously successful and critically acclaimed System Selector Pro , first introduced in 2003, in order to offer consumers a more compact, sleek design for their entertainment system or desktop. Perhaps of equal importance to consumers and retailers, the HD System Selector , which is available now, arrives with a suggested retail price of only $24.99.

The HD System Selector allows you to connect up to 4 video gaming systems or other video systems using component, AV or S-Video connections. It also allows you to use multiple systems online via a Broadband Ethernet connection. The HD System Selector offers superior picture quality when hooked up to any high definition television.

“The new design is intended to offer consumers a choice,” stated Pelican Product Manager, Shilo Prychak. “Our previous system selector, the System Selector Pro, is a more high-end unit with a subsequently higher retail price of $99.99. The HD System Selector offers a lower priced selector that fits into a more compact space for people who simply don’t have the room or the money to spend on the original design.”

The HD System Selector comes complete with a Broadband Ethernet Cable as well as 10 individualized name plates to represent a variety of different systems on the front panel.

Yea it doubleposts even if you just wait for 2mins for it to respond.

That picture you posted shows a normal Component cable. A HDMI cable would have a small USB like connector on the TV-end and the large x360 one at the console end.

A good rule of thumb is if you get an error and it doesn't say "POST CONTENT SAVED!" with a box full of your post then 99% of the time it posted and the server error occurred trying to reload the page after successfully submitting your post.

what I typically do is simply click back, select all and copy my post then go look at the thread to see if it actually when through... as I said 99% of the time it does but on the off chance it doesn't I have my post content copied so I just add a new reply and paste it.

Also you posted a picture of Component HD cables not HDMI cables... Though I've heard elsewhere that Pelican will be releasing an HDMI cable. ALSO don't forget MS confirmed native Digital video output capabilities during the Intel conference saying that the 360 was capable of outputting in HDMI but they weren't going to have an HDMI cable available until they felt it was the right time. Meaning no it's not a converter box. Not to mention HDMI to VGA type converter boxes easily run upward of $200 so I highly doubt Pelican could afford to pack that much into a <$50 proprietary cable.

I have been wondering about the validity of this pelican cable since the beginning of october, and now with a picture of the package up on best buy I can now say for sure that, IT IS NOT AN HDMI CABLE. rolleyes.gif

look at the pic in your link..... it is very obviously a component cable (it even says so on the package) so the mentioning of HDMI in the product description is wrong (its like they assume that the AVIP on the 360 is a HDMI and this cable converts to component).

this is just a 3rd party colostream component cable.

i do believe this is what an HDMI cable is supposed to look like

If I had to guess I'd say it's just the wrong picture... That tends to happen more often then incorrect descriptions.

DVI is essentially the same quality as HDMI but it can carry analog (VGA quality) OR digital (HDMI quality) and doesn't include sound.

both VGA and HDMI (and thus DVI) are far superior formats to Component.

My projector doesn't support DVI or HDMI but it does support VGA and that's what I'll be getting for the 360 when it comes out.

So..... do you think it would be worth getting a DVI cable if they ever make it for my TV?  Or do you think the quality of DVI over component would hardly be noticeable?
