ive notice the devolpment of rainbow type things going out through my monitor, and i know whats causing it, my speakers, this happend with my other computer downstairs, whenever i move my sub woofer(tilting it back and forth)the rainbows move, now i can have my sub sitting 5 feet away tilting it back and forth and it still affects my monitor, i want to know if i can fix my screen? and if theres anyway to shield my CRT from my speakers, the effects worsening and i can see it now on almost everything, before it was only visible on dark solid colors

and i was just thinking of running out and picking up a headset with a mic on it and throwing my speakers in the closet

A good rule of thumb for choosing speakers that are going to be near any type of CRT monitor or tv: Make sure the speakers have magnetic shielding.

That used to be the thing that separated PC speakers from non-pc speakers, magnetic shielding to keep your monitor from discoloring.

If it is being caused by the speakers it should go away as soon as you move the speakers away from the monitor... Leaving it there too long will permanently discolor the monitor though.

I'd say buy a more suitable set of speakers, move them further away from your monitor, or try wrapping your speakers in tinfoil or something  tongue.gif

This is true to an extent, from my knowledge. If it is a rainbow, or pinkish blotches, it's degaussed. You can actually hire a specialist to degauss your TV or you can buy the tool yourself for it.
