Which HDTV/Monitor Should I buy?
« Reply #15 on: May 31, 2005, 07:20:00 PM »

Samsung, LG, and Soshiba all make decent 30" sets. As much as it pains me to say it, the Sonys arent bad either if you can stomach the price. I am thinking about buying the 34" Toshiba 34hf85 myself. Your best bet is to take a trip to your local electronics store and see which one you like best. Be careful though, because the signal being sent to those TV's is crap.

Yeah, I wasn't saying 720p is terrible.  It looks just like the 1080i to me though.  I just got two tv's 2 weeks ago.  One is lcd.  On 720p it looks better on movies, and tv, but for xbox the crt is better because sometimes I get artifacting on the lcd, so I use the crt.  And you are right, I try to watch some 720p tv signals in 1080i mode on my lcd and it's great, but watching it on the crt, the picture stays small and I have to switch it.  The one thing I dont agree with is that 1080i actually looses some of the picture info when running 720p because it's progressive.  I see no difference.  Then again, I'm not using a 50inch or something like that.  Both are great and hd is hd.  Way better than the 480i or 480p.

The Sanyos at walmart are great too don't lok away because it is a 'sanyo', they have put their act together and now they are the cheapest and, imo, best 30" crt hdtvs on the market. They do 1080i and 720p and have a built in hd tuner and have 2 tuner pip. Its great.

God I hate when people say "search". If you have nothing productive to add to the topic why post at all? He is asking for peoples opinions, not for flames

And I hate when people ask the same goddamn questions over and over.  If they can't read the rules, why post at all?  They are just asking for flames.

the trend seems to be a bunch of idoits thinking they need HDTV's of a certain type. I hope people dont go to the store wanting to buy a xbox360 and get told by some retard at walmart they need a HDTV

i just bought a hdtv from circuit city that id reccomend everyone looking to buy take a gander at.  i bought the floor modedl for less than 400    it supports all hd signals
samsung tx-p2775hd           so then i bought the hd av pack for the xbox and turned on all outputs (1080,420,and whatever the other one is)   i was wondering if it matters if they are all on at the same time.....and also what is the best? 420?720?1080?

figure out your favorite resolution and don't listen to what others say. Everyone has their own prefs.
