But still, 1080i is no slower than 480i. It's not like 1080i is bad for moving objects, its still great.

Hey Carlo, one of the hd's I got is a standard 27" crt.  By standard I of course mean 4:3.  It will make the image to 16:9 if your tv supports that and mine does.  The picture is 25" in widescreen.  I was wary of this at first because some people were saying on an hdforum that you only get 75 percent of the screen size when going to 4:3 so I thought I was looking at a mere 21 or 22" display, but when I pulled out the measuring tape, going from left upper corner of the displayed picture to lower right corner, I got 25".  My other hd is a 27" widescreen display and it is only a slightly larger than when running the 4:3 hd.  So you are good to go.

As having two hd's one lcd widescreen and one 4:3, I agree.  The lcd gets 720p natively and the crt gets 1080i natively.  Running a game with 720p on xbox right now like mvp 05 looks the same on either tv.  Real nba telecasts look better also in 1080i as opposed to 720p, and on abc, i think it's native 720p.  Just a suggestion.  I cant see the difference and have been trying to see the advantages everyone said 720p would give me, but so far 1080i rocks for me.  Its all about preference I guess.  Also, progressive scan prefs always brag about the 720 lines of vertical count resolution but what about the horizontal count 1920 on 1080i.  Look man, stop the bickering on the two formats, hd is hd and for me, having both natively, 1080i is best for me, but hey, both rock.  As I said before HD IS HD.  Now lets try to convert the SD people instead of fighting about which hd format looks better.  Also 16:9 and 4:3 are both great.  Sometimes on the lcd, things look stretched out, but with 4:3, I can always switch back and forth between the two.

Reply: Are you saying that your lcd, when letterboxed, looks stretched or is that when you are running hd material (widescreen) in 4:#, because that would make sense.

If that is the case, why don't you letterbox the image when running hd material?

Ill tell you one more time. Turn on halo2. Go to the setting screen. Change the contrast so it is higher or brigtness or both. Thats why tv's have those settings... so if you don't like them, you can change them.

My lcd is 16:9 ws.  The stretching I referred to was when watching tv.  Anything in 4:3, which is everything not including the hd channels and the movie premiums are stretched.  If not, I get the ugly side bars.  Those side bars are far more distracting than the top and bottom ones on my 4:3 hd.  As stated before, with the xbox, the lcd get artifacting and the crt is perfect.  I play pc games all the time with my high end set up and I still prefer the crt monitor to the lcd monitor because on the lcd I get ghosting when playing pc games.  LCD looks bright and bad ass for movies, but for games, no sir.

OK guys, i fully understand that there is a help topic about this somewhere else but the search keeps timing out on me, and this is a $3,000 purchase and I wanted to make sure that I got some help with this one.  I have to make this decision pretty soon, and I was looking for some help.  I have a TV that just died, and I have a friend that ows me a huge favor.  He works at a store that has HDTV's but he only has access to two big HDTV's.  These are the two that I can choose from...

The first is a Mitsubishi Microdisplay HERE

The second is an LCD Hitachi HERE

Which one would you get and why...
Like I said i know that there is a topic that goes over this, but I still dont understand what all the aspects of some TV's mean...or if what the retailer is saying is trying to trick you into thinking the TV will do something that it doesnt.

Thnx,

beerchug.gif .  The TV is going to be free, but the favor is worth more than that trust me, lol. I was kinda disappointed that it isn’t true 1080i, but from what I am reading it can upscale to it.  I’m pretty sure from what I am reading though most games will be 720p anyway.  Also, from what I hear from most everyone 720p looks better anyway, so i guess its a great score anyway i look at it  beerchug.gif
