anything 16ms or better is barely or not even noticable of any type of ghosting. Preferrably you want 12ms or better.

Will this work well enough for Xbox/360?

Syntax Olevia 26" LCD HDTV

I was browsing Circuit City looking for some Christmas gift ideas and ran across this TV. They're selling it for $499 ($799 - $100 instant savings - $200 Mail-in rebate) so the price is nice. I probably could squeak out enough for this. I don't have much space so this is about as big as I could fit so the size isn't an issue. Plus any bigger and I'm looking to spend double the price of this. It fully supports the 360's resolutions (supports 480i, 480p, 720P, 1080i). I've been meaning to find a bit better TV and this got me goin on research.

I'm really just worried about the picture. I've searched the forums here and heard that LCD's are bad for these and those reasons. Is it really bad? Right now I have some cheapish Panasonic 27" CRT TV so if it's any better I'm happy. Maybe make a Pros and Cons list so I can figure out if it's for me.

Also, I'll be sitting about 10 feet away, maybe more. It seems like that's ample space away so I don't see the pixels. Would this be any concern?

 Thanks - Kevin huh.gif

even tho the 1st on is a LCD it's not as good as the CRT. But its a CRT so ts going o be BIG AND HEAVY but the picture will be good + its 16:9 Aspect ratio and its 27" Personally i would go with the CRT just b/c its HD, 16:9 ratio and it has HDMI

It looks like a good deal to me, they also have a 21" CRT for 79$ I think.

This has probably been mentioned or asked before but...

Would this monitor work in high def on a xbox 360 with the vga cable? What resolution would it be? Sorry if answered before. Do not understand that much about high definition.

I know this is a noobish question but how can you tell whether it is 720p or 1080i by looking at the native resolution?

I'm looking for a new TV for christmas. My parents agreed to buying one, but they said I already have a TV that works fine and they aren't willing to buy one that is high priced. Hopefully somebody can help me find what I have been looking for.

I either want an 24+ in HDTV or 19+ in LCD. (LCD doubtful because all are expensive)
Widescreen please.
I want it to be able to support 1080i (interlaced) or 720p (progressive scane).
This is the hard part, the price. I'm not exactly sure on what they are willing to spend but $400 is definately maximum.

That's really the only priorities I have for a new TV. I've searched and searched, but have not found anything. I'm sure someone out there can help me.

Thanks in advance.

So my 19 inch TV broke two days ago and today I'm going to replace it...  I think I'm leaning towards the Samsung 30 inch Wide model TXR3079WH...

Do you think that's a good buy, or is there something else in the under 1000 price range that is better?  I don't want an LCD, or plasma obviously... so CRT it is smile.gif

Thanks!

Guys....I am going to get a 360 and an HD tv once I finish my basement in about 2 weeks....I have been researching HD tvs and have not come up with choice yet.  I am looking to spend around $2000 on a tv.  I want to play the 360 on it but also get HD tv on it and use it as a home theatre entertainment center type of thing for me and the Misses.  I need some suggestions on what is the best HD tv for both of these purposes that fits my price range.  Any help is appreciated....
