Shoutcast?
« on: March 19, 2004, 06:20:00 AM »

Hi, I have been experimenting with Shoutcast in Gentoox and all seems well but the overhead with Gentoox on 64MB Ram is not good.

I was just wondering if it is possible to turn XBMC into a shoutcast server. On the same Xbox I would also like to setup a playlist of all my music to serve to the same xbox thats XBMC shoutcast is running on.

This is because I only have one Xbox and my PC is slow and rubbish, moved all my MP3's to my Xbox because my PC was running out of disk space.

Thanks if you can help.

So heres a quick overview.

Xbox
<<shoutcast>>
<<XBMC playlist>>
All on one xbox.

XBMC does not support serving shoutcast.
There are no plans to add shoutcast server support.

Has anyone tried having a Shoutcase server on a PC on their network and simultaneously listening to that same stream on their Xbox?  I have a Cable conneciton that is capable of 256k up and 3MB down.  I would imagine it should be possible at 128k, but havent tried it.  I might set this up tonight and report back what happens.

;o my bad. Just wondering if there are any seperate apps then for streaming media.

You can listen to streams on your xbox, XBMC has support for that.
