Can't Do Tricks While Manualing Anymore

I popped in THAW today and I went to compete in the AMJAM.  Well, I can't do tricks while in a manual anymore.  Anyone else have this problem?  It sucks because most of my points come from flatland.

its been a while since i've been at that point in the game, but don't you learn how to do flatland tricks after the amjam? i could have sworn your character learns how to do it right before you get into santa monica (which ****SPOILER***** you go to based on what happens when you win the AMJam).

yeah they lock out certain tricks until your character has learned them... it really bothered me too but you'll get by all that crap pretty quick.
