Xmbc Streaming Basic Authentication

Does xbmc support this? Anyone know if there is a way I can put in support for 'basic authentication' asx streams?  I think this just your computer sending a username and password, but without any encryption, so it doesn't seem too hard to do it to me?  I can get regular asx streams to work, but ones I try with basic authentication freeze at the part where it says caching xxxk, I think because the xbox is not sending the username and password...

any ideas?
