As you all know, the 3-9 build added a new "disc checking" feature that renders unmodded PC DVDROM undetectable. Here is a hardware work around until someone does something about it:

Referring to the pinouts of the diagram in this document:
Samsung 616 Replacement Tutorial

Use tiny wire (wire-wrap wire works great) to connect
1. pin 3 to pin 8 (force Tray In = True)
2. pin 10 to pin 12 (force Disc Ready = True)

Note: Make sure you reverse the pin numbers if you choose to work on the motherboard side of the connector.  <
