Soft Audio During Video Playback

The audio is very soft during video playback for me.  I've tried adjusting the OSD sound slider all the way to the left and right (not sure which way is up), but it doesn't seem to do anything.  Mp3s play at normal level.  Is there some setting I'm missing?  <
