If you have had problems with the Umbra Glitch and have got the quest first, then got umbra second, and when you went to return it, your game froze, then i beleive that i've found a fix.  What you do is first you go to the shrine (that you return it to), then you talk to him and choose what you want to do (in my case, give Umbra back) and then immediatly pause. After that fast travel to another city BUT THERE IS MORE you must then pause once you've arrived and fast travel back to the shrine (the same shrine you just left). I have tried this once, and it worked. After that i booked it from the shrine west. I then fast traveled again to Skingrad (bad spelling) and just ran around and it didn't freeze. When i did it again, it did freeze when i was booking it from the shrine to the west, but when i loaded to right before it froze and i fast traveled  AGAIN to Skingrad it was fine.
I know this is complicated and confusing but it worked. And i hope it works for you too
