- Once you get to level 17, you can get +50 magicka from sigil stones (allowing for a boost of 450 magicka if you used nothing but these on your armor/rings/amulet).
- How much a spell costs to cast decreases as your skill in that magic school increases.

Yeah, you certainly need the oblivion gates open for that. A grand soul will get you +24 magicka which is meh.

+50 magika via sigil stones is the way to go.

But if you really really want to get it up high, there is a thread here about duping items and droping them as you wear them.  This lets you keep the effects without wearing the actual item... Imagine 2000 magika.  Or 2000 health.  It is possible.

there is also a chain spell that you can bring it up really high without cheating.

It's not a cheat, it's a glitch.  Just like the chain spell thing.

I prefer the chain magic as the effects only last 120 second, or as long as you cast it for. It's still a "glitch" but at least it doesn't permanently effect my character. I'd rather not walk around with 500 acrobatics all the time, or 2000 magicka, but it's fun being able to temporarily get that boost and have some fun with it, and feel powerful.

Hmmm... what is this chain magic you speak of? I've been looking around different sites tryin to figure out what you guys are talkin about. I would love 2000 magicka! I have 760 right now.. duped some +50 magicka sigil stones and enchanted all my gear. But 2000!! Plz point me in the right direction. Thx

Quick reference:

Spell 1: Magicka Build (cast multiple times)
-3 pts fire on touch
-100pts fortify magicka on self for 3 seconds
-100% weakness to magic on self for 3 seconds

Spell 2: Magicka Finish
- 100pts fortify magicka on self for 120 seconds
- 100pts fortify intelligence on self for 120 seconds
- 100% weakness to magic on self for 3 seconds (if you want to chain other effects on)

You can chain on other effects while the weakness to magic is built like Fortify Acrobatics, Fortify Strength (for really high encumberance), etc etc. Stuff like Chameleon 100% for 120 seconds doesn't need to be chained in, just do the magicka finish first for ~2000 magicka and you can cast it.

No, it's just normal magic. The guy who discovered this and wrote up the original article did so from the point of view as a character in the game reporting it to the Mages Guild, and referred to it as "Ayleid Magic" (as in, the ancient race of elves or whatever). I just liked the name so used it when naming my spells.
