Money Help
« on: April 17, 2006, 08:17:00 AM »

Here are some ways to make money:

Leave Imperial City and walk along the paths.  Eventually you will find a cave/fort/ayelid ruin.  Go in, kill everything, and pack up all the stuff you find.  Go to any city and sell the stuff.  Make several trips if you have to.

You can also join the Fighters Guild.  They pay you to complete contracts.

If you have some money, you can go to the Arena in Imperial City and gamble it.

Join the Mages Guild and take a Mortel and Pestle for free.  Walk around and take all the plants you can find.  Then make a bunch of potions and sell them.  (This helps your alchemy skill and makes money too).

Join the Dark Brotherhood and complete your contracts.  (They give you nice gifts as well as money)

You can make some nice cash competeing in the Arena as well.  And unlike betting and having a chance to lose the cash, you can definetly win money, and gain experience..................as long as you save before every fight tongue.gif

money might be a big thing when you start off but after you played for a little while you will have more money then you can use. i also think the Arena is a good sorce of income. not only do you get money and exp you also unlock achievements. like boxrocker said cave/fort/ayelid ruin are another great place. not only you find gear for you but also a lot of stuff you can sell for money.

any easy way to open these damn locks ?

Yes.  Work on your alteration skills.  Buy an "open very easy lock" spell and constantly cast it.  Once your alteration gets to 75 you can pretty much open anything with the right spell.

Also, you can use a skeleton key.  It's basically a lockpick that never breaks.  The daedric shrine quest called Nocturnal  is where you will find that and all the info you need is here:

When you activate this shrine, located north of Leyawiin, just off the road at the end of a dirt track, Nocturnal will speak to you. No offering is required for this one. She tells you that her 'eye' has been stolen and she asks that you get it back for her. The thieves are two Argonians and you will need to find these two in order to learn the whereabouts of this artifact.

When summoned, Nocturnal spoke to me of the eye of Nocturnal, which has been stolen. The Daedra believes the thieves to be in Leyawiin. I am to go there, find the thieves, and return the Eye to the shrine.

After returning to Leyawiin, you are presented with a blank - nothing showing on compass, or in journal. Asking about the 'Eye of Nocturnal' just brings up blank looks and no information. Instead, you need to speak to any male imperial guard about the 'Leyawiin' topic, of which you will learn that two Argonians, Weebam-Na and Bejeen, have been bragging about scoring a rare jewel.

I have been told that Weebam-Na and Bejeen were recently heard talking about a valuable jewel they had found, and how it would make them wealthy.

Upon confronting Weebam-Na about this, he denies all knowledge, as does his female friend, Bejeen, and you will be unable to get any information at all out of either of them.

Weebam-Na denies knowing anything about the Eye of Nocturnal, and tells me Bejeen knows nothing either. Perhaps I should try to listen in on their conversations and see if they offer any clues.

Leave the house, then re-enter, and stay in sneak mode behind the screen near the door, just in earshot of them. The two Argonians are discussing this now that they know you're onto them, and if you listen carefully, you will learn the location of the jewel and additional info about what creatures to expect once you get there. You can confront them about this, but it has no effect on the location of the item, as they don't rush off to move it.

I overheard Bejeen and Weebam-Na speaking of Tidewater Cave, and the treasure they've hidden there. I should investigate the cave.

Tidewater Cave contains various leveled creatures, but the main enemies are two trolls outside and three inside. Some water-breathing is also worth having handy. The Eye is at the end of an underwater passage and looks like an eyeball on spider legs.

When you return with this to the shrine, Nocturnal is delighted and rewards you with the Skeleton Key, an unbreakable lock pick that also grants you +40 to your security skill. One of the most useful items in the game!

Keep casting it over and over to increase your alteration skill to 75 or higher.  When you can afford the easy spell, buy it and use it.  I have spells to open any lock in the game.  smile.gif

There's another quest that will award you a skeleton key. I forget what it's called but once of the Mages Guild members gives it to you (not a mages guild quest though) you have to rescue him from his dream world. if you succeed he gives you a skeleton key and a bunch of other crap. The Eye of the Nocturnal one is much easier though.

The guy I rescued from his dream world gave me some crappy armor.  I reloaded it a few times and each time he gave something random so may you got really lucky and got a skeleton key!  smile.gif

Yeah, I beat that quest last night too... I was wondering why I didn't get something cool, lol. I was going to try it again when I got home, but not worth it. BTW, I also did the Unexpected Voyage mission last night on level 23 and no problems at all with it. Just wanted to throw that in because I'd seen a lot of people saying they had trouble there.

BTW, does anybody know where the spell is for Very Hard Lock? I have 100% Mystisysm and have the Hard Lock spell and I can open all but the very hard (trying to raid the pirate's ship and open that one chest, errr.

The open lock spells are governed by Alteration.  You'll need to be an expert in Alteration first.
Once you've got that done, go to the Arcane University and make a spell for Open.  Then choose very hard lock.

That's how I got my spell.  smile.gif

The Spell Alter is awesome. I made what I call "cheap spells" in every dicipline. Stuff that only takes 1 magica that I can cast over and over to increase that skill.

I just equip a cheap magic spell then go wandering through the woods casting it over and over, I build my magic and find new map locations this way.  smile.gif

good tips on this thread.

im building up my alteration skill by casting the spell against the enchanted chest in the arch mages room, as im arch mage i just sleep in that room for one hour to build up the magicka to do it all over again, i then keep repeating.

i just wish my magicka would restore quicker, im only level 7.

when i make these little spells, do i need to practise them on someone ? I noticed that my alteration wouldnt move unless i did this spell on a chest
