3-9 Build.. Can't Change Weather Code.
« on: March 11, 2004, 06:35:00 AM »

Ok.. I'm doing something wrong.. I edited my XBOXMEDIACENTER.XML file and changed the weather city code to my location. I saved the changes and then proceeded to restart XBMC and try out the weather thing... Every damn time it comes up with (London's) weather. I've even deleted TDATA directory on the E: drive and tried it again... it still comes up with (London's) weather even though I have my city's area code in the XML file. So what am I doing wrong??

well you're right about one thing, you're doing something wrong.

The thought never crossed your mind to look inside the NEW xboxmediacenter.xml? If you would have bothered, you would have noticed there is no settings there for weather anymore.

Next, you would probably have wondered where the setting went.
Well, let me tell you that, it's well hidden in Settings; My Weather inside XBMC.

Well don't feeel too bad I had the same prob - came here for an answer too (oooh a  search function)

I fooked up as I copied and pasted all the last half of my old xml file into the new one and I did take a look in the weather folder and deleted the 2 xml files there - no joy

Off to sort it now (as a Londoner in Ireland I really don't want London weather showing up as it makes me look homesick :)

Nice polte answer btw Pike

it's nice 2b nice

*added*

Just edited curweather.xml didn't make a difference - maybe it's the beer - or me being thick - but where do we change this

BTW - don't bother flaming cause I missed a file location - peace out

ok..I deleted the entire XBMC directory off the XBOX and recopied the 3/9/04 build. I got the weather menu in the settings section, before I didn't.

I put my city in the search box and it just sits there like a dumbshit... never comes back with a code..

I'm in Dallas, TX.

I had problems with this too-

I found out all you have to do is enter your zip code- no weather.com code, but only the zip.
I'm in Albuquerque, NM. I entered 87120.

Do we all have the same versions of XBMC? They released two copies of XBMC 2004-03-09_build. The most current is XBOX_Media_Center_2004-03-09_build-PROPER-IND. I have combed the settings menu with no luck and have read the damn XboxMediaCenter.xml about a dozen times. I even added the weather comment to match the previous build hoping that they just forgot to put it in. If someone knows of the fix for this can they specify an exact location such as under which submenu it might be in XBMC or what part of the xml file. I'm beginning to think that I am just stuck waiting for a fix in the next CVS update. It could be worse though, everything else seems to be working fine. Kudos XMBC team.
