I really hate to ask this because I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong, but How the hell do I capture a soul in a soul gem? I have several of em, petty, grand etc and I also have the soul capture spell. I use the spell, but It doesnt seem to capture the soul. Do I need to epuip an empty gem or something? Please help I've been searching the faqs at gamefaqs and cannot find an answer. Thanks!

you only get a set amount of time to capture the soul from the time you cast the spell... umbras sword, has soul capture built into it, so combine that with azuras star (re-usable soul gem) and you can constantly refill you items.

when you hit them with soul capture, kill them while they are still glowing blue

You can also add 1 second of soul trap to combo spells or weapon enchantments to make soul trapping a bit easier.

My favourite:

Spell: Finish Him
Soul Trap (1 sec)
Drain Health 100 pts (1 sec)

Actually, I just rebuilt this spell so I could rename it "Shang Tsung". Lol.
